Network
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 1976 - Rated: R - Release Date: February 28, 2006 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * Extras! * - Recommended! Nearly lost within the discussion of Paddy Chayefsky's caustic writing and numerous fine acting performances is director Sidney Lumet, who enjoyed a remarkable string of classics in the 1970s that included Serpico, Murder on the Orient Express, and Dog Day Afternoon. His considerable skills bring everything together in Network and help to deliver a thought-provoking, entertaining picture. Amazon Compare|

Buffalo Soldiers
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 1997 - Rated: G - Release Date: January 10, 2006 Buffalo Soldiers depicts a valuable true story that could form the basis of a compelling film, but it takes the easier route and skirts along the tougher issues. Too many of the characters are one-sided and donÂ’t seem real, which makes it less exciting to follow the story. The overall tale is mildly interesting, but it falls short of providing an inspiring experience.|

The Good Earth
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 1937 - Rated: Not Rated - Release Date: January 31, 2006 A bloated film, The Good Earth still manages to collect multiple gorgeous images that will strike a viewer's eye. Warner's presentation of the movie is about as good as one could expect.|

Captains Courageous
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 1937 - Rated: Not Rated - Release Date: January 31, 2006 - Features: Extras! * - Recommended! A timeless family film packed with adventure and emotion, Captains Courageous far outclasses more contemporary movies in the same vein. Victor Fleming directs with customary gusto, Spencer Tracy files one of his finest performances, and Warner supplies another stellar transfer—just three of several reasons why this rousing classic deserves a spot on every movie lover's shelf. Highly recommended.|

Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (SE)
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 2005/1988 - Rated: R - Release Date: January 10, 2006 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * Extras! * - Recommended! To some Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is a masterpiece, but I simply can't overlook Peckinpah's overall lack of coherence. Warner gives the film more than its due with this two-disc release, supplying two versions of the film and a nice collection of extras. My only complaint with this DVD is that it doesn't include the original theatrical cut. Amazon Compare|

The Polar Express
From: Warner Home Video - Year: 2004 - Rated: G - Release Date: November 22, 2005 - Features: Anamorphic * Widescreen * DD 5.1 * Extras! * - Recommended! The Polar Express will become a holiday tradition in my household as, more than any other film, it manages to evoke the spirit of Christmas while completely enthralling in nearly every aspect. Highly recommended. Amazon Compare|
